MAILART

Mailart, a popular art movement, was founded by  American artist Ray Johnson (1927 - 1995).

There are no hard and fast rules about mailart and it is this freedom that draws me most to it. No money is exchanged, and there are no trades.

Artists send either original artworks or prints to another mailart artist.  I send a variety of stuff from limited edition prints to small original works. From printed postcards, and my art brochures, to printed poems, art stickers and painted envelopes.

There  are  also mailart exhibitions staged all year round in various parts of the world.

Often i would collaborate with another mailart artist, or intervene on the  received work; but at all times i believe in according due credit to the artist.

Mailart is all about having faith especially in the postal system that can have its setbacks. It is all about reaching out, sharing and letting go.
